Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa and Pakistan‘s wicketkeeper-captain Mohammad Rizwan shared a humorous exchange during the ongoing ODI between Australia and Pakistan. The second match of the series is taking place at Adelaide Oval.

The incident happened during Australia’s first innings. On the fourth ball of the 34th over, bowled by Naseem Shah, Zampa attempted a big shot but missed. Rizwan and the Pakistani fielders immediately appealed, but the umpire declined.

As Rizwan walked over to discuss with his teammates whether to review the umpire’s call, he asked Zampa the following question:

“Did you hear something?”

In reply, Zampa stated:

“You are appealing for everything?”

Rizwan went on to counter-question him by further asking:

“Should I take the review?”

Zampa urged Rizwan to review the decision. Rizwan consulted the third umpire, who confirmed that Zampa had not touched the ball, and the on-field decision was upheld.

Haris Rauf shines as Pakistan restricted Australia to 163 in the AUS vs PAK 2024 2nd ODI

Asked to bat first in the second ODI, Australia struggled from the outset, losing both of their openers early. Matthew Short was dismissed for just 19 runs off 15 balls, followed by Jake Fraser-McGurk, who made 13 off 10 balls.

Steven Smith (35 off 48) fought valiantly in the middle but struggled to find support as wickets continued to fall at the other end, thanks to a brilliant 5/29 from Haris Rauf. Despite brief partnerships, Australia’s batting collapsed, and Rauf’s superb spell ensured they never built any momentum.

Adam Zampa became the final batter to be dismissed, leaving Australia all out for 163 in just 35 overs. Despite the poor batting performance, Australia still holds a 1-0 series lead, having narrowly won the first ODI at the MCG by two wickets.
