Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill, Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Fakhar Zaman, and Ishan Kishan have all etched their names in cricket history by scoring double centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs). However, it was Sachin Tendulkar who became the first cricketer in the world to achieve this remarkable feat.
The legendary batsman accomplished the milestone on February 24, 2010, against South Africa. Even 15 years later, the achievement remains fresh in the minds of cricket enthusiasts.
Yuvraj Singh’s Heartfelt Tribute to Sachin
To commemorate the 15-year anniversary of this historic knock, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh planned a special surprise for Sachin. The celebration took place during the International Masters League, where members of the India Masters team gathered to honor the occasion.
As part of the festivities, Sachin cut a cake on Monday, surrounded by his teammates, including Yuvraj. Adding a humorous touch to the event, the cricketing icon arrived padded up, symbolizing that he was still “not out” from his record-setting innings. “Just to say, I was not out, so I’m still padded up,” Sachin remarked playfully.
During the celebration, Yuvraj Singh praised Sachin for his humility despite his unparalleled achievements. “For him, it was just another day in the park, but we have learned from him to always remain humble. He is always the first one there,” Yuvraj stated.

A Legacy That Continues to Inspire
When Sachin reached his double century, commentator Ravi Shastri famously declared, “First man on the planet to score a double century. And it’s the Superman from India!” That historic moment remains one of the most iconic in cricket.
Meanwhile, Sachin’s India Masters team recently secured a thrilling four-run victory over Sri Lanka Masters, led by Kumar Sangakkara, in the International Masters League at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The closely contested match kept fans on the edge of their seats, with Sachin’s team holding their nerve to emerge victorious.
Sachin Tendulkar, often referred to as the ‘God of Cricket,’ holds the record for the most international centuries (100) and the highest run tally in international cricket. While Virat Kohli surpassed his record for most ODI centuries during the 2023 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, Sachin’s legacy remains unmatched. Recently, the cricketing legend was honored with the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the BCCI’s annual Naman Awards, further cementing his place as one of the greatest cricketers of all time.
