India captain Rohit Sharma has said that Team India will have to prepare to bowl under the dew in the upcoming World Cup taking this year as well after losing the toss in the first ODI of the series against Sri Lanka. However, Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first as well whereas dew has been predicted during the second half of the innings also and it could play a crucial role in the match.

While speaking after the toss, as quoted by Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma shared that they were happy to bat fast despite the fact that usually, the winning captain opts to bowl first. He also stated that with the World Cup taking place later this year, they will have to learn to tackle bowling under dew as well. He further shared that it was all about getting the basics right and said that the team needs to keep moving in the right direction as well.

“We are happy to bat first. We would have liked to bowl as well, it’s a good challenge. The ground was flooded with dew yesterday. There will be times where we need to bowl under dew, we got to be ready for that with the World Cup around the corner. It’s about doing the basics right, it’s important to do things differently at times. We need to keep moving in the right direction. Had a great time playing an ODI here last time, hope we’ll have another memorable game today,” said Rohit Sharma after the toss.
