We Treated it As A Three-Match Series After Adelaide Loss: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out of the final Test match against Australia with a dislocated thumb, but not before he had done his job in the second and third Test match. He picked up seven wickets with the ball in two games and scored 85 crucial runs in the two Test matches which also included a 57 in Melbourne. After returning to India and going through his rehabilitation at the NCA, Jadeja finally spoke to the media.

In an exclusive interview with Boria Majumdar for India Today, the Indian all-rounder said that they treated it as a three-match Test series after the loss at Adelaide. India were bowled out for 36 runs in the second innings of the Adelaide Test.

“We decided to look at it as a 3-match series from thereon. Let’s forget about the first Test, it’s a three-game series for us’. We decided that we will create positive energy in the ground and boost each other’s confidence by talking, not think or talk about Adelaide Test,” Jadeja said to Boria Majumdar.

Ravindra Jadeja further said that it was tough to make a comeback after the first Test especially with the bowling attack that Australia had.

“I think after Adelaide’s loss, it was a bit tough. You know bounce back from there. Especially in Australia, playing against Australia. It was tough as Australia’s bowling attack was very strong. That was the discussion we had in the team meeting” Jadeja further added.

Apart from his 57 in Melbourne, Ravindra Jadeja picked four wickets and scored 28* in Sydney before he was ruled out from the last Test at The Gabba with a broken thumb.

The Indian all-rounder has been ruled out of the England series as he will not be fit in time for the series. He is still at the NCA since his return and is under rehabilitation.
