“We Won’t Entertain That”: Indian Media Manager Stops Controversial Question at Press Meet

The excitement around the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 has intensified ahead of the high-voltage encounter between India and Pakistan in Colombo. As is often the case, the on-field rivalry between the two cricketing nations has been amplified by the off-field geopolitical tension. Both teams are set to renew their fierce competition on Sunday, and the pre-match press conference reflected the same charged atmosphere.

During India’s media briefing, a moment of drama unfolded when a Pakistani journalist attempted to bring up a politically sensitive question. The reporter asked India’s bowling coach Avishkar Salvi if the “controversies from the Asia Cup” would influence the upcoming match. The journalist clarified that the question was initially intended for captain Harmanpreet Kaur, but since she was unavailable, he directed it to Salvi.

Media Manager Steps In: “We Won’t Entertain That”

Just as Salvi was about to respond, India’s media manager swiftly intervened, shutting down the question before it could spark further controversy. The official stated firmly that “such questions will not be entertained”, and asked the press to move on to more cricket-related topics. This exchange highlighted how politically charged narratives often seep into Indo-Pak encounters, even in women’s cricket.

Despite the awkward exchange, Salvi maintained a composed demeanor, focusing his remarks on the team’s preparation and strategy for the crucial game. The Indian camp is determined to extend its impressive record against Pakistan, and the coach emphasized the importance of “keeping the team’s focus purely on cricket.”

India’s Dominance and the Road Ahead

Historically, India has been a dominant force in women’s cricket against Pakistan. Out of 27 matches played across all formats, India has emerged victorious 24 times. All of Pakistan’s wins have come in T20 internationals, while India holds a 100% record in ODIs.

The teams’ recent form also paints a clear picture of their current momentum. India began their World Cup campaign on a high note with a 59-run victory over Sri Lanka, showcasing balanced performances from both batters and bowlers. Pakistan, however, faced early setbacks, losing to Bangladesh by seven wickets while struggling against both pace and spin bowling.

As the much-anticipated clash approaches, the focus for both sides will be on delivering under pressure. For India, maintaining dominance is key, while Pakistan will aim for a breakthrough win that could redefine their World Cup journey.
