Ravindra Jadeja played a brilliant knock of 104 runs in 194 balls in the fifth test match against England at Edgbaston. This was the first overseas test century of Ravindra Jadeja in his test career. He formed a 222 runs partnership with Rishabh Pant for the sixth wicket in tough situations against a quality bowling. When Jadeja came to bat, India were struggling at 98 for the loss of 5 wickets. Jadeja gave respect to the good balls and made full use of the loose deliveries.

Jadeja didn’t have a good 2022 season of the Indian Premier League. He had a pathetic performance with the bat. Not only this , he also gave up captaincy of Chennai Super Kings in mid season due to his poor performance with the bat. He wasn’t able to handle the pressure of captaincy. It was tough phase for him mentally.

However, Jadeja said that he didn’t keep in mind what happened to him in the IPL. Ravindra Jadeja believes that there is nothing more satisfying than performing for the Indian team. The Indian all rounder was proud of the fact that he scored a century in swinging conditions in England.

“What happened, happened. IPL was not on my mind. Whenever you are playing for India, your entire focus needs to be on the Indian team. It was the same for me, there is no better satisfaction than performing well for India. I can really take some confidence in myself as a player from this, to score a 100 in England especially in swinging conditions, so yeah it feels really good,” Jadeja said.

“Bumrah takes his batting seriously” – Ravindra Jadeja on contribution of tailenders

Ravindra Jadeja smashed 13 boundaries in his innings. Later, stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami too added crucial runs which took India to a total of 416 runs. Jadeja praised the commitment of Indian tailenders with bat. Jadeja revealed that they take their batting seriously in net sessions.

“Our 9, 10, and 11 do plenty of batting practice. Our team management ensures they work on their batting at practice.  Whenever Bumrah bats in the nets he takes it seriously. It is not like when he bats, he has a casual approach, and he puts a price on his wicket. The last 40-50 runs he scored along with others is a bonus,” he concluded.
