Oliver Peter Stone (Olly Stone), who was born on October 9, 1993, is an English cricketer that now represents Nottinghamshire and England. He bowls with his right arm quickly and bats with his right hand.
The young man hails from Norwich, Norfolk and he attended Thorpe St Andrew School for his education. His first match for England at the international level was played in October last year. Stone is known as one of the quickest bowlers in England having bowled at a speed of 94 mph (151 km/h).

Domestic Career
His debut in county cricket was made by Stone for Norfolk County Cricket Club, his home team, during The 2011 Minor Counties Championship against Bedfordshire. In Northamptonshire Cricket Academy since 2009 and played Second XI cricket for the county since 2010, Stone made his first team appearance in a Twenty20 match against Durham at Friends Provident t20.
In the match, he was dismissed without scoring any run on his very first ball by Paul Collingwood who became his third victim of hat-trick. 2012 saw Stone make his List A debut for the county against Warwickshire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 and make his first-class debut versus Yorkshire during County Championship.
The 2012 season saw him regularly play for Northants leading to signing a new two-year deal with the county club in July, 2012. Earlier that year, MCCA knockouts trophies against Shropshire and Wiltshire saw him play for Norfolk county.
He suffered serious knee injury while celebrating Moeen Ali’s catch which made him miss out on 2016 season entirely but still signed a three-year contract with Warwickshire during July.
He was signed by Birmingham Phoenix as one of their players for ‘The Hundred’ in April 2022 season. Later on July, Nottinghamshire offered him a three-year deal starting from end of season 2022.
International Career
Historically, he had been part of the England Under-19 team touring South Africa in 2013 together with another player from Northants called Ben Duckett after impressing during the second half of 2012 season while playing for Northants county. In fact, he became famous by registering the best ever bowling record against youth Tests in England U19 by taking 11 wickets at a cost of only 79 runs.
In September 2018, he was named in England’s Test and One Day International (ODI) squads for the series against Sri Lanka. On 10th October 2018, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka but unfortunately rain disrupted play after just 15 overs without an opportunity for him to bat or bowl anything during this game.
Then in December 2018 Stone was included in England’s Test team for the series match up against West Indies. Nonetheless, prior to starting of first test match, he sustained back injury which would prevent him from going aboard on this journey. Later reports from his home county team revealed that it was a lower back stress fracture which would take about six to twelve weeks before fully healed.
On July 2019 Stone received a call into the England Test squad for their solitary encounter with Ireland at Lords’. His Test debut for England came on July 24th when they played Ireland at Lords’ London City.
Stone was one of the players selected to begin their training on May 29, 2020, in a 55-man group, as they prepared for international matches after the COVID-19 pandemic in England. Stone made it into England’s 30-man squad on June 17, 2020, for the closed-door Test series against West Indies.
Also on July 4, 2020, Stone was included among nine reserve players for the first Test match of that series. In 2021, he represented England Men’s Test Squad during their tour of Sri Lanka and India.
For the second Test in India, he formed part of a 12-man contingency and was confirmed to start ahead of Chris Woakes at the toss. In this Test, Stone claimed his first wicket by bowling out Shubman Gill lbw with his third ball.
In September 2022, he was selected to play for England in T20Is against Pakistan. On September 25, 2022 he made his T20I debut against Pakistan.
