Career

Initially joining Essex primarily as a bowler and batting at number 10 on his debut in first-class cricket, Walter was subsequently appointed a number three batsman and even an opener in limited-overs matches.

During the 2021 season he became part of the regular middle-order for Essex during County Championship games where he was known for his reliability. He boasts of an average of around 40 while on the other hand hardly utilizing his bowling skills.

The second XI from which he began the 2022 season had Matt Critchley, who signified his openly coming into the team’s middle order after making new signings but then returning to play when Dan Lawrence was injured; such a move saved both – Walter (who scored 93 against Northants) and the side itself.

In May 2022, Walter recorded his maiden century in first-class cricket with 141 runs scored against Yorkshire in the 2022 County Championship.

Walter had made arrangements with Brisbane Heat to play in BBL13. He quickly became popular among his teammates, making significant contributions as both a batsman and a bowler in several matches.

One of his remarkable moments was when he won the Player of the Match Award during their victories against the Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers.

During the final game against Sixers, Walter participated and helped Heat secure their first title since BBL02, thus joining ranks with only two other clubs namely; Perth Scorchers and Sixers that have been able to clinch it more than once.

In 11 encounters, Walter managed to take 17 wickets which were only surpassed by Xavier Bartlett (20) and Spencer Johnson (19); both being his teammates at different points throughout this month-long cricketing event that is organized in Australia during summer months every year.
