Australia batsmen Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have been pivotal for their success in the last few months in red-ball cricket. The duo has belted a lot of runs together sharing big partnerships. Meanwhile, both of them also share a great bond off the field and Labuschagne likes to learn the game from his senior teammate. It is a “match made in heaven” a lot of Australian cricketers jokingly say looking at their fellowship.

Labuschagne, who came in as a concussion substitute for Smith during the 2019 Ashes in England, has added a lot of strength to the middle-order. He has been their most consistent run-scorer since then, even leaving behind their fellow teammate. On the other hand, Steve Smith has been compared to Don Bradman in the purest format of the game.

However, the former Aussie skipper is quite messy in the dressing room and often needs help from others to pack up his kit. And who better than Marnus Labuschagne to help him out with the same. Meanwhile, Australia’s Test skipper Tim Paine, in an episode of The Test on Amazon Prime revealed, Smith promised to give Labuschagne every day if he packed the kit for him.

“Smith is notoriously quite messy in the change rooms, his gears everywhere in the room, so Smithy promised him (Labuschagne) that if he packed up his kit after every test match, Smith gave him the bat and again Marnus just thought it’s Christmas Day,” Tim Paine said.

“It was one of the best deals of the summer,” Marnus Labuschagne said.

Meanwhile, currently, the duo is a part of Australia’s ODI squad which is locking horns with New Zealand. While Steve Smith got out cheaply, Marnus Labuschagne knocked some valuable runs to take the score to a respectable position as he continues to cement his beth in the limited-overs.
