Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was spotted relaxing in his village after a demanding season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). He represented the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team, which ended seventh in the points table.

Ravi Bishnoi claimed 10 wickets in 14 matches with an economy rate of 8.77. LSG concluded their campaign with seven wins and an equal number of defeats.

Ravi Bishnoi was not selected for India’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Ravi Bishnoi is currently tied for fourth place in the ICC Rankings for T20I bowlers, sharing the position with Maheesh Theekshana. He previously held the top spot in December last year. Despite his notable performances, he was not chosen by the national selectors for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Experienced leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was selected ahead of Bishnoi in the 15-member squad. Bishnoi was also not included in the reserves for the tournament. In response to Bishnoi’s exclusion from the squad, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan expressed his thoughts on the microblogging platform X:

“If I am Sitting pretty at 6th in the ICC T20i rankings, but not in the World Cup lineup, it’s a tough pill to swallow. #Ravibishnoi.”

The team led by Rohit Sharma will face Ireland in their opening match of the ICC event at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 5.

In addition to Yuzvendra Chahal, India’s spin-bowling options include Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace attack, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.
