At present, Binura Fernando is competing in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) with Colombo Strikers. He is known as a medium-fast left-arm bowler and right-hand hitter. Apart from Colombo Strikers, Binura has played for Jaffna Kings, Kandy Warriors and Dambulla Aura during his cricketing career.

Now he is an important player in both domestic and International cricket because of his consistent performance. His record includes four One Day Internationals (ODIs) which have seen him claim two wickets with his best bowling figures being 1/33 while making 26 runs at the highest score of 17. In addition to that he has played 17 Twenty20 Internationals where he took 16 wickets at best of 2/12 scoring 30 runs with a maximum of 20.

In List A cricket Binura has played 54 games capturing 69 wickets where his best bowling figures were 6/28 while scoring 1323 runs. He also played in 101 T20 matches, claiming 127 wickets.
