Once upon a time, many people regarded Sanath Jayasuriya as one of the greatest cricketers. He was a former cricketer who played for Sri Lanka and even served as its captain. As an orthodox left arm spinner and top order batsman, he represented Sri Lankan cricket team from 1989-2011 before finally retiring in 2011. Once an ICC Cricketer of the Year in 1996, he later helped Sri Lanka win their first World Cup title.

At present, he is in the Sri Lankan Parliament and had taken the responsibility of choosing players to the Sri Lanka Cricket. Jayasuriya is well accepted as legend in Sri Lankan cricket because of his unbeaten style of attacking cricket. To the above sport, he has immensely afforded his time and energy and this made him famous within and outside Sri Lanka.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently banned the explosive Sanath Jayasuriya for a few years due to corruption in the sport of cricket. Controversies have also tarnished his personal life, particularly around his attempt at marriage. The Matara native Jayasuriya married Air Lanka ground hostess Sumudu Karunanayake in 1998, but they broke up the following year.

Sandra de Silva, a former Sri Lankan Airlines flight attendant, and Jayasuriya were married. Savindi Jayasuriya, Yalindi Jayasuriya, and Ranuka Jayasuriya are their three children as well. However, they divorced in the first part of 2012 since even their marriage couldn’t withstand the test of time. Following his divorce, Sanath reconnected with movie actress Maleeka Sirisena, another air hostess. At a Buddhist temple on Mount Lavinia, they were married.
