Career
In April 2021, Malik was selected as one among three net bowlers who would be playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad at 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). On 3rd October 2021, he made his debut in the IPL for the 49th match during 2021 Indian Premier League against Kolkata Knight Riders.
He received attention during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore when he bowled five balls in a row exceeding 150 km per hour. As a consequence of his fast bowling skills, he was named as a net bowler in Indian team for 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. His first-class debut was on November 23rd, 2021, for India A against South Africa A.
He was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad during IPL 2022 auction. On 27th April 2022, Malik took his first five-wicket haul playing in Twenty20 cricket against Gujarat Titans on this occasion in the Indian Premier League match. Moreover, he was even awarded with an Emerging Player title at the tournament level where as such as well as such balls clocked at most speeds by Indians within IPL matches reaching156 kmpH were bowled against Delhi Capitals by him.
In May 2022, Malik was selected in T20I team of India for their series against South Africa and then in next month he was included in T20I team of India for the two-match series versus Ireland. He made his debut match on 26 June 2022 representing Ireland against India. His first ODI debut for the Indian cricket team was in November 2022 when he played against New Zealand. His first victim was Devon Conway.
