Who Was The Costliest Player At The IPL 2025 Auction?

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction has concluded after a two-day event in Jeddah, where the 10 teams invested crores of rupees to secure the best cricketers from around the globe for their squads. As is customary after every IPL auction, fans eagerly discuss who the most expensive player was.

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player of the IPL 2025 Auction, sold for ₹27 crore to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). While some experts had predicted he could exceed ₹30 crore, he fell short of that mark during the bidding in Jeddah.

Starting with a base price of ₹2 crore, Pant was first bid on by Lucknow Super Giants, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, all involved in a fierce bidding battle.

LSG eventually secured Pant for ₹20.75 crore, but DC used their RTM card. The auctioneer gave LSG another opportunity to raise their bid, and they pushed it to ₹27 crore, at which point DC decided not to exercise their RTM card.

Shreyas Iyer became the second-most expensive acquisition, with Punjab Super Kings signing him for INR 26.75 crore. Their bold approach also led to the signings of Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, each for INR 18 crore, strengthening their bowling lineup.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders made a significant investment in Venkatesh Iyer, re-signing the all-rounder for INR 23.75 crore to preserve the core of their team.
