The third and final ODI match between India and West Indies got underway at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. India has an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series, after registering thrilling victories in the first and the second encounter. They chased down 311 runs in the second ODI with two wickets to spare in the final over.
With the series already in pocket, the fans expected India to give opportunities to youngsters, like Arshdeep Singh in the read-rubber. However, the hosts have decided to stick to almost the same playing XI for the match. India made only one change bringing in Prasidh Krishna in place of Avesh Khan. Meanwhile, the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ishan Kishan were excluded.
A look at our Playing XI for the final ODI.
One change for #TeamIndia. Prasidh Krishna comes in for Avesh Khan.
Ravindra Jadeja was not available for selection for the 3rd ODI since he is still not 100 percent fit.The medical team will continue to monitor his progress.#WIvIND pic.twitter.com/4bkh524SBu

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has been part of the Indian squad for a few months now. But, the pacer has played only one T20I for India so far and is yet to make his ODI debut. He was supposed to play the ODI series against England earlier this month, however, an abdominal strain ruled him out. Fans and experts believed that Arshdeep might get an opportunity in the third ODI. However, his non-inclusion in the team has disappointed the Indian fans.
Let’s take a look at how fans reacted to Arshdeep Singh’s exclusion from the Indian team:
I am shocked by team india management why you are not giving chances to arshdeep singh in a dead rubber match when we lack of left arm pacer but still giving chances to righty ballers
We haven't got replacement of zak till now #IndvsWI #LiveTheGame— Anirudh yadav (@Anirudh8254) July 27, 2022
Oh god, still no Arshdeep Singh?

This was the best opportunity to test Arshdeep Singh and Ruturaj in ODIs. I don't understand what team management was thinking 🤦🏻♂️#WIvIND

Arshdeep Singh is a young bright talent
He should have played today's ODI
Indian cricket team should give chances to all players selected for a particular tour.#IndvsWI #ArshdeepSingh— Akshay (@sporty_boy7) July 27, 2022
Why arshdeep singh not play in playing 11 .he deserve atleast one chance………..

Unless Arshdeep Singh is still having that abdominal strain, leaving him out even in a dead rubber is so bizarre.#IndvsWI #ArshdeepSingh #Cricket #CricketTwitter

Still no Arshdeep Singh in playing 11. Sad to see a good young promising talent wasted on sidelines

There is something really wrong with @BCCI selectors. Why won't you give chance to Arshdeep now? Stinks of prejudice … every one else but NOT Arshdeep? @SGanguly99 what's going on?
— Arvind Singh (@arvsingh_ca) July 27, 2022
Why they're not selecting Arshdeep singh in place of overrated Prasidh Krishna? #WIvIND #IndvsWI

It should’ve been Arshdeep in place of Avesh or Siraj. Why can’t he get a single game? Prasidh can’t bat can’t bowl can’t field yet he comes back @BCCI

India opts to bat first in the third ODI
Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bat first at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday, July 27. The visitors brought in Prasidh Krishna in place of Avesh Khan, while the hosts made three changes to their team. Jason Holder, Keemo Paul, and Keacy Carty were brought in for Alzarri Joseph, Rovman Powell, and Romario Shepherd.
Speaking at the toss, the Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan said, “The best thing is everything is performing, nice to see that. That’s a big positive for us, happy with that. I feel that intent is important, but at the same time, you need to be smart.”
