After a dominating performance in the Test series, Team India will take on West Indies in a three-match ODI series. The first ODI is all set to take place on Thursday, July 27 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Team India skipper Rohit Sharma will be approaching a special milestone during the series.

Rohit Sharma has scored 9825 runs in 243 matches at an average of 48.63. He is 175 runs away from achieving the huge milestone of 10000 ODI runs. He will become the 15th player to achieve the milestone and the sixth from India. Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni are the five Indians to have scored 10000 runs in ODIs.

The Indian skipper will surpass the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting if he achieves the record in the upcoming series. He will become the second fastest to get to 10000 runs in ODI cricket. The list is led by Virat Kohli who completed 10,000 runs in just 205 ODI innings, while Tendulkar is second (259 innings).

The three-match ODI series between India and West Indies will serve as a preparation for the visitors for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. West Indies failed to qualify for the mega-event. They will be keen to make a comeback, after losing the Test series. Shai Hope will be leading the squad in the series.

Meanwhile, India will be without the services of Mohammed Siraj, who flew back home after the Test series. He has been rested by the team.
