After a wonderful chase led by master Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, India made sure to gain a lead of 1-0 against the Carribiens. While the skipper”s knock of 94* took the centerstage, Rahul inning”s hasn”t been spoken much.
In the absence of Dhawan, Rahul was determined to provide that “kick start” and he executed it meticulously. In the process of his 62(40), he became the third-fastest batsman to 1000 T20I runs.
Speaking on the same in the post-match conference, Rahul said that he will utilize the opportunities to the fullest going forward.
“It’s a long way, honestly. I’ve got the opportunity to bat at the top of the order again after a couple of series. So (I’m) looking forward to just making the best use of it,” said Rahul.
“Today was a good outing, a good hit in the middle and hopefully, I just continue the same thing and not worry about October next year, there’s are lots of games before that“, he concluded.
It is worth noting that KL Rahul has been consistent in the shorter formats for some time now. Barring IPL, he displayed his opening heroics in the recently concluded SMAT domestic T20 also.
Meanwhile, the side will also try to build a reliable playing XI to tackle challenges at T20 WC next year.

The second T20I will be played at Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The game at Hyderabad went down the wire, can this game do the same?
