The Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians was anticipated to be a mouthwatering clash in IPL 2020. By god, the two heavyweight sides did not disappoint and played a match for the ages. Speaking after a thrilling victory, Virat Kohli admitted that this win over MI will boost their confidence going forward.

The second super over of IPL 2020 had to be played to separate the two sides. Navdeep Saini bowled a quality super over against Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya. In the end, RCB needed 8 to win against Jasprit Bumrah that AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli achieved.

Bangalore hold nerves to clinch two points

Earlier in the match, RCB put on a mammoth 201 runs. Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, and AB de Villiers all scored the fifties with Shivam Dube providing the much needed late over impetus.

The MI chase looked far way from RCB’s total then Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard stitched together an unbelievable partnership. Kishan was sublime as he was out caught on 99 in the last over. But Pollard kept his nerve to take the game to the Super Over but couldn’t secure two points for his side.

Here’s what the winning captain Virat Kohli had to say after the win against MI:

Kohli said, “I don’t have words right now. It was such a roller-coaster game. I think they played really well and patiently in the middle. It went down to the wire, we tried to execute the things we wanted to.

We’ve got a close victory and these little things on the field, we really want to focus on it. It was all about stepping onto the field and taking responsibility. It was a good match-up against Jasprit.”

“Top quality cricket and games like these, people would love to watch. The changes that we made, make Washi bowl in the PP paid off. Gurkeerat didn’t get a chance to bat. The guys showed good character.

Outstanding Super Over from him (Saini). He used the yorkers and wide balls to good effect. This should boost us going forward”, Kohli said after the win against Mumbai Indians.
