“Wiser Toh Pata Nahi, Older For Sure” – Virat Kohli Playfully Reacted To Celebrating His 36th Birthday

Senior India batter Virat Kohli turned 36 on Tuesday, November 5. During an event on Thursday, he humorously acknowledged his age, saying he’s definitely older, but wasn’t sure if he’s any wiser.

The former India captain celebrated his birthday with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and their two children, Vamika and Akaay. It was a refreshing break for Kohli, who had a tough time in the recent three-match Test series against New Zealand, which India lost 3-0.

At an HSBC event in Mumbai, when host Gaurav Kapur asked if he felt wiser with age, Kohli cheekily responded:

“Wiser toh pata nahi, older for sure. (Not sure about wiser…)”

The 36-year-old went on to describe his recent birthday as the most relaxed one yet. The right-handed batter further added:

“But yeah, probably the most chilled out birthday I have had in all these years – just with Anushka and our two kids at home. It was very relaxed and basically the birthday was for my daughter and son. It happens so when you have kids.”

After several years of dating, Kohli and Anushka got married in a private ceremony in Italy in December 2017. Their daughter, Vamika, was born in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, arrived in February this year.

Virat Kohli has been struggling with form in 2024

Kohli had a disappointing Test series at home against New Zealand. Across six innings, he managed just 93 runs at an average of 15.50. He scored 0 & 70 in the first Test in Bengaluru, followed by 1 & 17 in Pune. In the third and final Test in Mumbai, he was out for 4 & 1.

In 2024, Kohli has played six Test matches, scoring 250 runs at an average of 22.72, with just one half-century to his name. The 36-year-old has also faced difficulties in ODIs this year. In the three-match series against Sri Lanka, he managed only 58 runs at an average of 19.33, with a top score of 24.

Kohli was named Player of the Match in the 2024 T20 World Cup final before announcing his retirement from the format. However, his T20I form in 2024 has been underwhelming, as he accumulated just 180 runs in 10 innings at an average of 18, with a strike rate of 119.20.
