World Cup 2023: Indian Cricket Team Arrives In Guwahati For Warm-Up Match Against England

Team India arrived in Guwahati on Thursday, September 28, ahead of their first warm-up match against England on Saturday, September 30. Reports indicate that off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is part of the team for these practice games. Ashwin was brought in as a replacement for Axar Patel during the ODI series against Australia, following Patel’s injury in the Indian cricket team squad.

In a viral video of India’s arrival, star batsmen Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma can be seen boarding the team bus, greeted by enthusiastic fans. Joining them on the bus are Kuldeep Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul.

During the Australia series, Ashwin was brought in as Patel’s replacement and performed impressively, ending as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with four wickets in two innings, averaging 22 with an economy rate of 5.17. Ashwin brings extensive World Cup experience, having been part of India’s squads in the 2011 and 2015 tournaments.

India’s World Cup campaign begins with a warm-up match against England in Guwahati, followed by another practice game against Netherlands on October 03 in Thiruvananthapuram. The Rohit Sharma-led team will kick off their World Cup league matches against Australia on Sunday, October 08, at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The India World Cup squad comprises Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav.
