Delhi Capitals register a close-fought win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 11th match of the WPL tournament played at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on 13 March 2023.
DC captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to field first. Shikha Pandey provided the initial breakthrough for Delhi Capitals as she dismissed Smriti Mandhana with a simple catch to Rodrigues. They did not allow Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine to score run freely. At the end of six overs, Royal Challengers Bangalore made 29 for 1.
Shikha Pandey provided the second breakthrough getting rid of Devine shattering the stumps. Delhi Capitals kept the pressure on Ellyse Perry and Heather Knight not allowing them to hit boundaries at will.
Shikha Pandey was involved in another dismissal as she produced a stunning catch at short fine leg. The incident took place during the 13th over as Knight hit a powerful shot but Pandey dived off Tara Norris’s bowling.

Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh showed intent to putting pressure on Delhi Capitals bowlers, especially against Alice Capsey and other Delhi Capitals bowlers. Perry completed her 2nd fifty off 45 balls. Richa Ghosh was dismissed by Shika Pandey with a review for caught behind. The umpire called not out but on review, the decision was overturned to out. Ghosh and Perry added 74 runs for the 4th wicket.
Delhi Capitals held onto their nerves to win:
Chasing 151 runs to win, It was not an ideal start for Delhi Capitals as Shafali Verma was bowled by Megan Schutt with a beauty. Alice Capsey came to the crease and looked positive right from the word go putting pressure on RCB bowlers, especially Preeti Bose.
Soon after hitting four boundaries in succession, Capsey provided a simple catch to Ellyse Perry. Capsey and Lanning added 44 runs for the 2nd wicket. At the end of six overs, DC raced away to 52 for 2.
Jemimah Rodrigues looked impressive and kept the scoreboard ticking along with Lanning. Asha struck to get rid of Lanning with a good catch by Perry at long-off. Kapp and Rodrigues kept the scoreboard ticking. Kapp survived a close run-out call. Asha struck in the same over to dismiss Rodrigues. Rodrigues and Kapp added 39 runs for the 4th wicket.
Kapp and Jonassen kept hitting boundaries at important times. With 9 runs required off the final over, Jess Jonassen did the job with a six and then finished with a boundary to help DC win the match by 6 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Jonassen and Kapp added unbeaten 45 runs for the 5th wicket.
For her unbeaten 29 off 15 balls, Jess Jonassen was named the player of the match award. With this win, Delhi Capitals move to 8 points.
