Delhi Capitals will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals of the WPL to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 17th March 2024.
Delhi Capitals finished top of the points table and qualified for the finals directly. Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians in the eliminator by 5 runs to reach their first-ever finals in the tournament history.
Delhi Capitals would reach their second successive finals while Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to continue their dream and win the first-ever title.
Here we look at the 3 Records That Could Be Broken Between Delhi Capitals and RCB in the WPL 2024 final:
- Marizanne Kapp Could Bowl Number of Maiden Overs
The South African pace bowler Marizanne Kapp had a dream season for Delhi Capitals this season. During this season, Hayley Mathews and Saika Ishaque had bowled 2 maiden overs each.
Kapp has been brilliant for Delhi Capitals this season so far. She bowled decent lines and lengths putting the pressure on the opponent batters. So far, Kapp delivered 2 maiden overs and would be looking to bowl another brilliant performance for Delhi Capitals with the ball tonight against RCB.
Kapp is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament so far with 11 wickets at an economy of 6.50 runs per over with best figures of 3 for 5. She would be hoping to bowl another maiden to become the only bowler to deliver two or more maiden overs in a single season.
- Ellyse Perry Could Score Most Runs In WPL History
Ellyse Perry has been in sensational form for Royal Challengers Bangalore. She has proven her worth with a match-winning effort in the eliminator with 66 against Mumbai Indians on 15th March. The knock helped RCB post 135 for 6 in 20 overs. Her efforts helped RCB register a 5-run win to qualify for the finals against Delhi Capitals.
The Australian all-rounder is currently the leading run scorer in WPL history with 312 runs from 9 matches and just 4 behind DC captain Meg Lanning.
Meg Lanning was the highest run scorer with 345 runs and helped DC to qualify for the finals. Ellyse Perry requires 34 more runs to surpass Lanning’s record and become the leading run-getter in a single season. Lanning also has a chance to showcase her domination to become the leading run-scorer for the second successive WPL.
- Smriti Mandhana could become the third leading run-scorer in WPL 2024
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana provided some brilliant performances with the bat in the initial stages of WPL 2024. She is currently 5th in the leading run scorer behind Beth Mooney and Deepti Sharma.
She has scored so far 269 runs from 9 matches (9 innings) including 2 half-centuries with the best score of 80 against UP Warriorz. Mandhana needs 26 runs to surpass Mooney and Deepti Sharma to become the third leading run-scorer in WPL 2024.
