The Women’s Premier League of 2026 is going to be staged in Mumbai and Baroda, and the tournament is most probably going to last from January 7 to February 3. Though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not officially confirmed the cities, their internal talks point out that Mumbai and Baroda are the most likely options.

It is believed that the opening games will take place at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, which was the site of the recent Women’s World Cup final, and the second phase, including the final, will be at Baroda’s Kotambi Stadium, starting around January 16.

The announcement of the official confirmation should be made at the WPL auction in New Delhi on November 27. The move of the schedule to January is intended to steer clear of the men’s T20 World Cup and other international cricket events, thus making January a probable permanent window for the WPL.

WPL 2026 set to be held in Mumbai and Baroda

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will begin its journey at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, and probably at the Kotambi Stadium of Baroda for the last stages, even the final. The shifting to Baroda is anticipated to take place post-January 11, when the city will have the India-New Zealand men’s ODI.

For a time, the cities of Mumbai, Baroda, Lucknow, and Bengaluru were under observation, but reports say that Mumbai and Baroda are the ones who have come out on top. If everything goes as planned, the Baroda phase might kick off around January 16, thus resulting in a split-venue arrangement for the entire season.

The Mumbai Indians, who are the defending champions, would want to continue their reign, as they will be the ones who got the first WPL title in 2023 and the second one in 2025. They won against the Delhi Capitals in the finals on both the occasions.
