Wriddhiman Saha Opens Up On The Future Of IPL 2020

The whole world has come together to fight the pandemic coronavirus which has taken lives of more than 13000 people across the globe. There has been a complete lockdown in many parts of the world including India to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

The pandemic, as declared by the World Health Organisation, has resulted in cancelling of many global events. The future of the Olympic looks in jeopardy while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) already postponing the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) until April 15. New reports suggest that it might get delayed further as the situation gets worse with each passing day.

Meanwhile, the citizens are asked not to come out in public and maintain social distancing and avoid gathering. The tourist spots are also asked to close down with no transport available until March 31 depending on the situation.

As the future of the 13th edition of the IPL looks in jeopardy, India’s Test specialist and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha opined on the IPL 2020. Saha, who is currently at home said that family and people come way ahead of any sports and urged one and all to take a slow and steady approach.

 “Life and family comes first. Then you can talk about sport. We all sacrifice a lot for the sport but eventually if a lot of people are hampered, that is not necessary. So, we need to take necessary precautions. For the time being, we all have to wait and when the situation gets better, we all will look to do well in the IPL,” Saha told IANS. 

Meanwhile, BCCI is likely to hold a conference with all the eight franchise on March 24 over the call to decide on the fate of the tournament amid all the ruckus due to the coronavirus outbreak.
