BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has come up with an important update on Team India’s regular Test wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha’s fitness. The wicketkeeper-batsman is suffering from a double hamstring injury at the moment. He survived the injury in the IPL for which he had to the playoffs for Sunrisers Hyderabad after being drafted late into the team.

The BCCI last week said it would take a late call on Saha’s availability for the tour which begins with the first of six short-form internationals on November 27 in Sydney. Now. Sourav Ganguly has said that Wriddhiman Saha will be fit just in time and will be available for the Test series.

“The BCCI trainers, physio and Wriddhi himself know that he has two hamstring issues. Wriddhi is travelling to Australia because he will be fit for Tests. He is not part of the shorter formats” said Ganguly.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has also been selected as the second wicket-keeping option for the Test series. Meanwhile, Saha has backup and management. He is considered as the best wicket-keeper in the longest format in India at the moment. He showed his prowess with the bat in the IPL, which keeps him ahead of Pant in the selection race.

Pant, on the other hand, had a forgetful IPL this season. Though his team made the finals, Pant failed to fire with the bat. He scored 343 runs in 14 games with just one fifty-plus score. After failing with the bat in the league stage, he scored 56 in the final for Delhi Capitals.

Along with Wriddhiman Saha, Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury is also a cause of concern for the Indian team. Rohit has returned back to India from the UAE after he was to travel to Australia with the Indian squad. His fitness has been under scrutiny for a long time now. He is now at the NCA under rehabilitation and will only be allowed to travel down under if he passes a fitness test to be taken by Team India physio Nitin Patel.
