India vs England fourth test

Even though India did not qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final, the team will still receive a substantial reward. India will earn USD 1,440,000, which is approximately Rs 12.33 crore, for finishing third in the WTC 2023–25 cycle.

“India finished third in the points table for the 2023–25 cycle,” yet their earnings are close to what Australia received for winning the WTC 2023 Final. After Australia defeated India in the 2023 final, they were awarded a prize of USD 1.6 million. This time, the winner of the WTC 2025 Final will walk away with USD 3.6 million, and the team finishing second will still earn more than USD 2.1 million.

Final Showdown: South Africa vs Australia

The highly anticipated final match of the WTC, known as the ‘Ultimate Test,’ is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at Lord’s, the iconic venue in London. The two strongest teams in Test cricket, South Africa and Australia, will battle it out for the prestigious WTC mace.

“The ‘Ultimate Test’ between the two red-ball best teams – South Africa and Australia – for the World Test Championship (WTC) mace is set to begin on Wednesday at the home of cricket, Lord’s.” Under Pat Cummins’ captaincy, Australia will aim to defend their WTC crown, which they secured in 2023 by defeating India at The Oval. South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, are striving to claim their first ICC title in over twenty years and win their maiden WTC title.

Paths to the Final: Performance Overview

South Africa had a mixed start in the WTC cycle, winning only one of their first five matches. However, their performance significantly improved as they went unbeaten in their next seven games. They topped the WTC standings with a 69.44 point percentage after recording eight wins and three losses in 12 matches. “The Proteas secured their spot in the final after finishing on top of the WTC standings with 69.44 point percentage.”

Australia followed closely, finishing second with a 67.54 point percentage after 13 victories and four defeats in 19 games. Their success also included retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a major milestone that contributed to securing their place in the final. “Australia have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade, which helped them seal their spot in the summit clash.”
