Starting from scratch, this Indian team came a long way first winning the World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa and then reaching the finals of this prestigious tournament beating Australia in the semifinals.
England defeated India in nail bitter by 9 runs to clinch their fourth World cup. Batting first, the Indian team restricted England at 228 runs courtesy a clinical bowling performance by Jhulan Goswami taking 3 wickets for just 23 runs. While batting, India fell short of 9 runs as they were bundled out for 219 runs.
