Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube’s ascent to the Indian cricket team originated from their remarkable performances in the IPL 2023. Jaiswal has seamlessly transitioned into all three formats, showcasing his adaptability, while Dube, a key player in the T20I squad, is gearing up for the 2024 T20 World Cup following his impressive displays against Afghanistan.

Rumours suggest that both Jaiswal and Dube are on the verge of securing BCCI contracts, recognizing their stellar contributions in 2023 and a promising start in 2024. Notably, they played pivotal roles in India’s triumph, securing the Gold Medal at the Asian Games 2023 in China.

Although Jaiswal has become a consistent member of the national team, Dube faced setbacks before redeeming himself with outstanding performances against Afghanistan, scoring unbeaten 60 and 63 in the first two T20Is.

An anonymous source said: “The selectors and the team management want him to bowl more and more, as that adds immense value to Dube as a player. This is why he is bowling a fair bit during this series. If he can chip in with a few overs with the ball, he can cement his place in the side for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA. This is crucial because he is the ideal backup to the injury-prone Hardik Pandya.”

Anticipating Hardik Pandya’s injury concerns, BCCI officials emphasize Dube’s bowling prowess, seeing it as a key factor for his inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad. Captain Rohit Sharma is actively providing Dube with more opportunities to fine-tune his skills for the upcoming mega tournament.

Additionally, Rinku Singh is in contention for a central contract, having established himself as a formidable force in T20 cricket, making him a potential candidate for the T20 World Cup if he maintains his current form.
