Yashasvi Jaiswal Levels Virat Kohli’s Record In Test Series Against England

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashavi Jaiswal breaks into top 20 of batters rankings

Team India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has etched his name in the record books during the ongoing test series against England. He has been in terrific form in the series, dominating the England bowlers. He equalled Virat Kohli for the most runs by an Indian batter in a bilateral Test series against England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing series. He has scored 655 runs at an average of 93.57, with two centuries and two fifties. He also slammed a double century in the Rajkot test, scoring 214 runs. During the fourth test in Ranchi, Jaiswal equalled Virat Kohli’s record. The veteran batter had achieved this during the 2016-17 series when England had toured India.

As the series progresses, Yashasvi Jaiswal will look to achieve more milestones. If he goes past the 700-run mark in the test series, he will become the second Indian cricketer to achieve this feat. Sunil Gavaskar holds the distinction of scoring 700 or more runs in a Test series twice. He scored 774 runs in the West Indies in 1970-71 and scored 732 runs when West Indies toured India in 1978-79.

Jaiswal will also look to break the record for most runs scored in a single India vs England Test series. Graham Gooch and Joe Root are at the top of the list with 752 and 737 runs respectively. He will be keen to achieve this record in the fifth test against England in Dharamshala.

India seals test series against England

Team India defeated England by five wickets at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Monday, February 26 to seal the five-match test series. They chased down 193 runs on the back of a fine performance from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel. This is their third successive win in the series, having won the Visakhapatnam and Rajkot test matches. The final test will take place from March 7 in Dharamshala.
