Team India skipper Rohit Sharma along with Yashasvi Jaiswal left for England on Sunday, May 28 to join their teammates ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia after their journey in the 2023 Indian Premier League came to an end. The World Test Championship is all set to take place from June 7 to June 11 at The Oval in London.
The first batch of Team India players, including Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin, have already started the preparations. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of the mega-clash. Jaiswal is replacing Ruturaj Gaikwad as a stand-by on the tour, as the latter couldn’t join due to personal reasons. The youngster shared pictures on Instagram as he left for England along with skipper Rohit Sharma.
“Off to England 🏴 for the World Test Championship Final with the one and only @rohitsharma45. I trust I believe,” he wrote.
India’s squad for the WTC final
Team India will take on Australia in their second consecutive appearance in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Most of the players have reached England for the preparations of the tournament. Meanwhile, the likes of Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and Mohammed Shami will join following the conclusion of the 2023 Indian Premier League.
Team India will be missing the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer for the final. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul too was ruled out of the match, due to an injury. Ishan Kishan will be his replacement for the match. The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar and Suryakumar Yadav will be with the squad as reserve players.
