Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Brother Tejasvi Jaiswal Hits His Maiden Fifty For Tripura Against Baroda In The 2024-25 Ranji Trophy

Tejasvi Jaiswal, elder brother of Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal, scored his maiden half-century for Tripura on Day 3 of their 2024-25 Ranji Trophy match against Baroda on Friday, November 8, at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala.

Making his debut season in the Ranji Trophy, Tejasvi batted at No. 3 and shared a solid 110-run stand with opener Jiwanjot Singh (94) for the second wicket. The 27-year-old left-hander hit 82 runs off 159 balls, including 12 fours and a six, marking his first-ever first-class fifty.

Prior to this match, the Tripura batter had a tough start to the season, scoring only 17 runs in his first two games—4 runs against Mumbai and 13 against Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be in action when India takes on Australia in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, beginning November 22 in Perth.

Tripura Take 247-Run First-Innings Lead Against Baroda in Ranji Trophy 2024-25

Batting first, Baroda faced early difficulties, losing two wickets for just four runs. However, Jyotsnil Singh (46) and Atit Sheth (78) steadied the innings, putting on a 107-run partnership for the third wicket.

Despite a strong recovery from Jyotsnil Singh (46) and Atit Sheth (78), Baroda’s innings ultimately fell apart, crumbling from 162/4 to be bowled out for 235. Abhijit K Sarkar was the star bowler for Tripura, claiming five wickets to help dismiss Baroda.

In response, Tripura’s top five batters all notched up half-centuries. Bikramkumar Das led the way with 97, followed by Jiwanjot Singh with 94, Tejasvi Jaiswal who scored 82, Sridam Paul with 73, and captain Mandeep Singh, who remained unbeaten on 74*. Tripura declared their first innings at 482/7, taking a commanding 247-run lead.

At the close of Day 3, Baroda were 37/0 after 16 overs, still trailing by 210 runs. Jyotsnil Singh (12) and Shivalik Sharma (25) were at the crease. Baroda remain at the top of the Elite Group A table with 19 points, while Tripura occupy third place with nine points.
