India’s batter Yashasvi Jaiswal shared his thoughts on his match-winning innings in the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. He revealed that he had specific plans for each bowler and thoroughly enjoyed his batting. Jaiswal played a pivotal role in India’s victory, helping them clinch the series.

After restricting Zimbabwe to 152 runs, India faced what was expected to be a challenging chase. However, Jaiswal’s exceptional performance made it seem effortless. Despite captain Shubman Gill’s initial struggles, Jaiswal remained unfazed. He launched a fierce attack on the bowlers from the outset, giving India a strong start.

Jaiswal’s aggressive batting saw him hit the ball all over the park, leaving the bowlers clueless. His performance was particularly noteworthy given his absence from the T20 World Cup 2024 matches, where Virat Kohli had opened the batting. Joining the team in the third game, Jaiswal made an immediate impact in the next match.

In the fourth T20I, he played an unbeaten innings of 93 runs off 53 balls, helping India to a 10-wicket victory and an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series against Zimbabwe. Jaiswal’s innings included 13 fours and 2 sixes, with a strike rate exceeding 175. Although he was poised for a century, Gill finished the game, with the pair adding 156 runs for the opening partnership.

Jaiswal said: “I really enjoyed my batting today. I had my plans for different bowlers. The ball was coming on when it was new and as it got old, it was quite slow. I enjoyed batting with Shubman. Initially, I was thinking to take on the bowlers and as the innings progressed, I thought how to build the innings and stay till the end.”

Post-match, Jaiswal expressed his happiness with his batting performance and discussed his partnership with Gill. He mentioned his strategy to attack the bowlers while also focusing on building the innings. Jaiswal’s impressive innings highlighted his talent and solidified his place in the team. He will be next seen in action as India faces Zimbabwe in the final match of the series on Sunday, July 14, at the Harare Sports Club.
