In a remarkable achievement, Haryana opener Yashvardhan Dalal set a new record in the CK Nayudu Trophy 2024-25 by becoming the first player to score a quadruple century in the tournament. This historic feat took place on Day 2 of Haryana’s match against Mumbai at the Gurugram Cricket Ground on November 9. After winning the toss, Mumbai opted to bowl, but Dalal and his opening partner Arsh Ranga dominated, constructing a massive 410-run partnership.

Ranga was eventually dismissed for 151, but Dalal powered on, reaching his unprecedented score. By the end of the day, Haryana posted a formidable 732/8, with Dalal unbeaten on 426 off 463 balls, featuring 46 fours and 12 sixes.

Haryana’s Commanding Performance

Haryana’s batting lineup benefited significantly from Dalal’s relentless innings. His opening partnership with Ranga set the tone, building an indomitable foundation that Mumbai’s bowlers struggled to break. Despite a few starts from other Haryana batters, none were able to produce scores as substantial as Dalal’s.

Nevertheless, Dalal’s persistence at the crease allowed Haryana to close out the second day with a daunting score, scoring at an impressive rate of 4.16 runs per over. This massive total put the team in a dominant position and underscored the significance of Dalal’s contribution.

Breaking Records and Making History

Dalal’s quadruple century also surpassed the previous CK Nayudu Trophy record held by Sameer Rizvi, who scored 312 earlier in 2024 for Uttar Pradesh. Rizvi’s record had held for only nine months before Dalal eclipsed it with this historic knock. Among Mumbai’s bowlers, only Atharva Bhosale was able to keep Dalal somewhat contained, eventually achieving a five-wicket haul after 58 gruelling overs.

However, Dalal’s innings overshadowed Bhosale’s efforts, cementing this match as a landmark event in the tournament’s history and adding a new milestone in Indian domestic cricket.
