Young Pakistan Batter Draws ‘Mr. 360’ Comparison With 32-Year-Old Suryakumar Yadav

In an interview during the ongoing Emerging Asia Cup, Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Harris discussed the comparisons between himself, Suryakumar Yadav of India, and South Africa’s Ab de Villiers, who are all associated with the “Mr. 360” tag.

The 22-year-old batsman downplayed the comparisons by pointing out that Yadav is ten years older than him. Yadav is currently the top-ranked T201 batsman in the ICC rankings.

For a long time, Ab de Villiers, the South African cricket legend, was widely recognised as the epitome of the “Mr. 360” tag. He earned this reputation due to his extraordinary ability to play shots on all sides of the court. De Villiers became renowned for tormenting bowlers with his incredible shot-making skills in all formats of the game.

However, the emergence of Suryakumar Yadav challenged de Villiers’ dominance. Yadav, the talented Indian batsman, has become a nightmare for both fast and spin bowlers thanks to his knack for manipulating fields and finding gaps across the ground. At 32 years old, he has swiftly established himself as the best T201 batsman in the world, earning him the title of the new “Mr. 360.”

Now, Mohammad Harris, a promising Pakistani batsman, has expressed his desire to earn the same tag and challenge Yadav’s supremacy. Harris, who is a decade younger than Yadav, acknowledged that both Yadav and de Villiers have their own exceptional abilities but emphasised his intention to establish his own identity as a 360-degree cricketer.

Harris believes that “It is premature to compare himself with Yadav, as he is still in the early stages of his career. He acknowledged the distinct levels of skill that Yadav and de Villiers possess but asserted his ambition to carve out his own path and reputation in the cricketing world. Harris stated that he aims to become a renowned 360-degree cricketer on his own merit rather than relying on the achievements of others.”

The Pakistani batter emphasised the importance of hard work to reach the level of his counterparts. He expressed confidence that, with dedication and practise, he could surpass Yadav’s abilities. Conversely, Harris acknowledged that without putting in the required effort, he would remain below Yadav’s level.

The ACC Emerging Asia Cup is poised to witness a clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India, scheduled for July 19 in Colombo. Harris, who captains the Pakistan A side, will face off against India A, led by Yash Dhull, the captain of the 2022 U-19 World Cup-winning team. Harris, who played in five ODIs and nine T20Is for Pakistan, played a crucial role in his team’s journey to the T20 World Cup final last year under the leadership of Babar Azam.

In summary, Mohammad Harris, the young Pakistani cricketer, recognises the talents of Suryakumar Yadav and Ab de Villiers but aspires to establish himself as a 360-degree cricketer in his own right.

He downplays comparisons with Yadav, highlighting the age difference between them, and emphasises the need for hard work and individual achievement. The upcoming match between Pakistan and India in the Emerging Asia Cup adds further significance to the discussion surrounding these talented players.
