“Young Players Motivated By Training With Idol Virat Kohli”: Delhi Head Coach On Ranji Trophy Comeback

Virat Kohli, India’s star batter, will feature in Delhi’s upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Railways, starting Thursday, January 30. Delhi’s head coach, Sarandeep Singh, feels that the senior player’s presence provided motivation to the younger players during the team’s practice session at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, January 28.

Kohli is making his return to the red-ball domestic cricket competition after more than 12 years. The former India captain trained with his Delhi teammates in preparation for his comeback. Discussing Kohli’s practice session with the team, Singh shared his thoughts with IANS:

“Young players were feeling motivated while training with their idol Virat Kohli. It is good for domestic cricket. We had just cricket chat with Kohli and plans for the match were discussed. It was indeed a good day.”

Before hitting the nets at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Kohli participated in a football game with his teammates. His last Ranji Trophy appearance was in November 2012, where he scored 14 and 43 in a loss to Uttar Pradesh.

Kohli will play under LSG batter Ayush Badoni, while Rishabh Pant, who recently featured in Delhi’s match against Saurashtra, will not play in this contest.
