Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have always performed when the two have played together for India. The spin twins of India since becoming the part of the Indian team have helped their side win several key matches. Chahal recently shared why the duo has been so successful in international cricket so far.

Popularly known as “Kul-Cha”, the spin duo have spun a web around many teams with their skilful bowling in tandem. Virat Kohli often looks at both of them as wicket-takers who can bowl in any situations. After the champions trophy in 2017, India needed attacking spinners.

Both Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were finger spinners and with stroke players today, India needed attacking spinners. Chahal and Kuldeep since then have complimented each other well. Chahal said that he and Kuldeep trust each other which reflects on their on-field performances.

“We’ve known each other for many years as we played junior cricket together. It is good our off-field rapport translates on the ground. We trust each other pretty well and have a belief in each other’s game.

I would say we have both grown as cricketers and matured. It’s amazing to bowl in tandem as we put pressure on batsmen from both ends. I really look forward to bowling alongside him soon”, Chahal told Hindustan Times.

Want to play Test cricket

Chahal also talked about his ambitions of playing Test cricket for India. The leg spinner has played 52 ODIs and 42 T20Is for India but his yet to play a Test match. Chahal stated that he does want to represent India in Test cricket but feels he still has to play more red-ball cricket.

“Test cricket is the most challenging. In recent years, Ashwin Bhai and Jadeja plus Kuldeep have done well for India. I too want to play Tests but for that, I need to play more red-ball cricket at the domestic level.

I have played just 31 first-class games. I need to spend more time bowling in Ranji Trophy perhaps and also make an impression”, said Chahal.
