The second wave of COVID-19 has wreaked havoc in the country with daily cases touching over 3.5 lakhs each and every day. The latest to be affected with COVID-19 are the parents of Team India cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. Chahal’s father and mother both have tested positive for the deadly virus while his father had to be hospitalised with severe symptoms.

Meanwhile, the crisis in the country has reached its peak in the last few days. BCCI had to postpone the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to the surge in the cases in the country. A couple of potential breaches in the bio-bubble resulted in cricketers attracting the COVID-19 virus.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s mother and father tested COVID-19 positive

After a couple of cricketers lost their dear ones to this virus, now Yuzvendra Chahal’s father and mother have tested positive. Chahal’s wife Dhanashree Verma took to Instagram to reveal the news while requesting people to stay at home and not worsen the situation. She also revealed that Chahal’s father has been admitted to the hospital after showing severe symptoms while his mother is being treated at home at the moment.

“Now my parents in laws have tested positive with severe symptoms. My father-in-law is admitted and my mother in law is being treated at home. I was at the hospital and I have witnessed the worst. I am taking all the precautions,” Dhanashree Verma wrote in her story.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is one of the many cricketers to donate to India’s fight against the pandemic. He contributed Rs 95,000 to the fund-raiser of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli which aimed to raise Rs 7 crore.

The leg-spinner from Haryana was recently a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021. He blew hot and cold and was not in his best of forms. His next international assignment could be the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in July. The Men in Blue will be facing Sri Lanka in three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals as the second string team will travel while the first team will be in the UK to play a five-match series against England.
