4 Indian Cricketers Who Might Retire From International Cricket In 2022

Indian Cricket is at the absolute best right now with young and experienced players all amongst the mix and helping India reach the top in all formats. But like every year some players hang their boots from the game especially international cricket. Today we’ll be looking at Indian players who might be retiring from International cricket in 2022:

1) Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma has been in the Indian cricket set-up for more than 15 years now and has been a great servant for the Indian side. He was part of the Indian team in all formats of the game in the early stages of his career. Then he was only part of the test side and became a lethal opening bowler in the Indian bowling attack that has done wonders over the last five years.

Ishant Sharma, 33, still has years left but a young group of fast bowlers have put his place even in the test side in major doubt. Earlier in 2021, we saw Siraj getting prefered over Sharma just due to the sheer raw pace and fitness that the former provides. Now due to the IPL, players like Prasidh Krishna, Umran Malik might also get a go due to the recent success. Therefore, time might have run out for Ishant and he might consider retiring this year rather than not being selected for any team.

2) Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha

Saha has been an unlucky cricketer and has always been the back-up wicketkeeper for India because of the great MS Dhoni donning the gloves. When MS Dhoni retired from the test set-up, Saha was an automatic selection but his poor run of form in the overseas tours saw him get dropped from the playing XI. Since then Rishabh Pant has donned the gloves for the Indian side and has improved massively and has helped the side in many famous victories through his contribution in batting.

Saha, 37, is at the back end of his career and might have to give way to youngsters like KS Bharat in the test squad. He might not even be selected as back-up anymore and might just retire sooner rather than later.

3) Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav was a household name in the Indian side since 2016 for four years and he had been proving his worth to the team in the limited overs side. He has played some brilliant knocks for the Indian team in ODI matches and has been a key part-time bowler as well. His inclusion to the Indian side was because of his technique and unorthodox bowling action which was a blessing for any captain.

Kedar, 37, is no longer part of the Indian side in any format nor has been bought by any IPL team. With youngsters and experienced personnel like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer in the ranks, chances of Kedar making a comeback look bleak and retirement might just be the option for him that’s left.

4) Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has been a key part of the Indian side in past few years. He announced himself in the test side against Australia scoring 180 runs on his debut. He has been the mainstay opener since 2013 and has won India the Champions Trophy.

His position in the team is in question due to the brilliant performances by KL Rahul. Other youngsters like Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have also been knocking the door for a long time now. Retirement looks unlikely for Dhawan but might be an option considering the age factor.
