The BCCI announced squads for the 3 match T20I, 3 matches One day international and 2 Test match series against West Indies starting from 3rd August 2019.

Apart from these players, few youngsters performed well at India A level and at the domestic level and IPL, they were not able to get a chance in the Indian team for the West Indies tour.

After a stunning loss to New Zealand by 18 runs in the semi-finals, Pant is getting full chances of wicketkeeping in all three formats as MS Dhoni made himself unavailable.

Here We Look At The 5 Players Who Missed Out In The Squad For The West Indies Tour

1. Shubman Gill- ODIs and T20Is

Shubman Gill had a fantastic tour for India A in the recently concluded One day international series against West Indies A. While opening the innings for India, Gill proved his worth in the ODI series with scores 10, 62, 77 and quick-fire 69 off 40 balls in the final One day international.

He could have been selected resting one of the seniors and giving him a chance against the West Indies. Gill played only 2 ODI matches replacing Virat Kohli in the ODI series against New Zealand this year. This was the right chance for the selectors to test the young Shubman Gill in the One-day international series at the middle order.

Mayank Agarwal should have been given a chance in the One-day international squad against West Indies. He was called as a replacement for Vijay Shankar during the World Cup 2019. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for quite some time.

He has played 75 List A matches scoring 3605 runs with the best score of 176. It is indeed surprising for a person to get a World Cup call-up but not for the West Indies tour.

3. Kona Srikar Bharat- Test Matches

He has hit 8 centuries and 20 half-centuries for Andhra Pradesh in Ranji Trophy. He was very close to get into the Test team for 2 Test matches against West Indies but could not make it. Wriddhiman Saha has been selected as the 2nd wicketkeeper for the tour.

Sanju Samson is a young wicketkeeper-batsman who has been performing consistently on a regular basis in domestic circuit and IPL.

With no back-up wicketkeeper in the squad, Sanju Samson should have been a chance to prove his worth at the highest level.

He has played so far 93 IPL matches and scored 1969 with 2 centuries and 10 half-centuries. With the explosive nature with he plays, West Indies series would be an ideal chance for the selectors to test him.

The right arm leg spinner Shreyas Gopal performed brilliantly for Rajasthan Royals in IPL. He took 20 wickets from 14 matches including a hattrick against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Gopal is a handy batsman lower down the order. He has been a consistent performer in Karnataka and at India A level. He has played 31 IPL matches so far and taken 38 wickets with best figures of 4/16.

With the World T20 2020 coming up, Gopal could have been given a go in the T20I and One day international series against West Indies.
