The 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy saw some sensational performances with both bat and ball by experienced players creating a major impact on the matches.

With IPL 2023 auction set to take place on December 23, 2022, the franchises would look at those performances in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy and can bag an IPL contract due to their exploits during 50 over format.

These performances created an impact on the matches and led their respective states to victory. The Indian Premier League is the best platform for young Indian players to showcase their talent against the world’s best and earn more money.

Here we look at the 5 players who performed well in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 and can bag an IPL deal.

#1 Narayan Jagadeesan

The stylish Tamil Nadu batter had a dream run during Vijay Hazare Trophy this season. He finished as the leading run-getter with 830 runs from 8 matches (8 innings). He broke the record for most centuries in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy edition.

He looked in sublime touch with five centuries to his name and recorded the highest List A total of 277 against Arunachal Pradesh. Chennai Super Kings decided to release him before the 2023 auction.

With the way he has played in Vijay Hazare Trophy, some franchises with less money would buy him and would be an ideal choice for opening.

#2 Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat had a dream run leading Saurashtra to their second Vijay Hazare title, defeating Maharashtra in the finals. He performed brilliantly with the ball picking up 19 wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 3.33 runs per. During this brilliant journey, Jaydev picked 1 four-wicket haul and 1 five-wicket haul.

Jaydev was bought by Mumbai Indians for 1.30 Crore. He did not perform according to expectation picking 6 wickets from 5 matches at an economy of 9.50 runs per over. MI released him before the auction.

He made his IPL debut in 2010 and played a total of 91 matches (90 innings) with 91 wickets. The franchises would be looking to buy him at a cheap price.

#3 V Koushik

The right-arm pace bowler from Karanakta had a brilliant outing in the 2022/23 Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament. Koushik swings the ball and creates an impact with his deliveries.

He was the second leading wicket-taker in this season with 18 wickets from 9 matches (9 innings) at an economy of 2.70 runs per. With his experience of bowling in Indian conditions, Koushik could be a handy bowler providing early wickets.

It will be a big exposure for Koushik if he would be given a chance to feature in the Indian Premier journey.

#4 Sheldon Jackson

Sheldon Jackson impressed with his brilliant batting during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He saved his best with a match-winning 133 off 136 balls against Maharashtra in the finals helping Saurashtra win their 2nd title.

Jackson was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 60 Lakhs. He was not able to perform well with just 23 runs in 5 matches. He was released by the KKR franchise before the 2023 auction.

It could be an ideal chance for other franchises to buy him and utilize his batting skills with the superb form he displayed during Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022.

#5 Rohan Kunnumal

The explosive right-handed batter from Kerala, Rohan Kunnumal had a decent season with the bat. His performance was decent enough with 414 runs from 7 matches, including 2 centuries and 1 half-century.

Kunnumal takes use of the powerplay overs and can create an impact with his hitting abilities. During this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy, he posted the highest score of 134. He has not featured in the Indian Premier League season.

He can bat according to the situation, making life tough for opponent bowlers. Kunnumal could be bought by franchises because of his explosive batting.
