5 Records Ishan Kishan Made In His 39-Ball 125 vs Karnataka

Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan created history by bringing up a 33-ball century during Jharkhand’s match against Karnataka on the opening day of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Batting in the middle order, he blasted 125 off just 39 balls, powering Jharkhand to a massive total of 412 for 9 in their first innings at Ahmedabad on Wednesday, December 24.

Fresh off a recall to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 T20 World Cup, Kishan continued his red-hot form with a breathtaking innings that included 14 sixes and seven fours. After starring in Jharkhand’s 2025–26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy win, the explosive wicketkeeper has made a strong case for an international comeback.

Here Are 5 Records Ishan Kishan Made In His 39-Ball 125 Vs KAR:

#5 The second-quickest List A century by an Indian batter

Ishan Kishan surpassed the previous Indian record of a 35-ball century set by Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh, but his mark did not last long. Bihar skipper Sakibul Gani soon bettered it by smashing a 32-ball hundred, establishing a new Indian record.

As a result, Kishan’s 33-ball century now stands as the second-fastest in Indian List A cricket. He is also one of only two Indian batters to have scored a List A hundred in fewer than 35 deliveries.

#4 The fourth-quickest List A century in history

Ishan Kishan’s remarkable innings went beyond rewriting Indian records and also made a mark on the global stage. The fastest List A century remains held by Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, who blasted a 29-ball hundred for South Australia against Tasmania in the 2023–24 season.

With only AB de Villiers’ 31-ball century and Sakibul Gani’s 32-ball effort ahead of him, Kishan’s 33-ball hundred now ranks as the fourth-fastest century in the history of 50-over cricket.

#3 Third-most sixes by an Indian in 50-over cricket

Ishan Kishan blasted 14 sixes against Karnataka, ranking third for the most sixes by an Indian in 50-over cricket. Rohit Sharma leads the list with 16 sixes during his 209-run innings against Australia in 2013, while Ruturaj Gaikwad matched that feat with an unbeaten 220 in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a 35-ball hundred in the 2025–26 edition, hit 15 sixes to claim second place. Kishan’s achievement now sits alongside international greats like Chris Gayle and Corey Anderson in ODI cricket.

#2 Quickest century at the No. 6 position in List A history

Most of the recent rapid hundreds have been scored by top-order batters. Jake Fraser-McGurk, AB de Villiers, and Sakibul Gani achieved their record-breaking tons while batting at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5, respectively. Ishan Kishan, however, now holds the record for the fastest century by a No. 6 batter.

After opening in the 2025–26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he moved down the order and produced a similarly destructive innings from a lower position.

#1 The second-quickest century by a wicketkeeper in List A cricket

The world record for the fastest century by a wicketkeeper belongs to AB de Villiers, who scored a sensational 31-ball hundred against the West Indies in Johannesburg while keeping wickets. Ishan Kishan came close to breaking this record but now ranks second among wicketkeepers for the quickest hundreds in 50-over cricket.

Similar to de Villiers in that match, the Indian left-hander also led his team while donning the gloves.
