Andre Russell is down to business with Kolkata Kight Riders. The big-hitting West Indian is practicing hard to help his side win their third IPL title. He had scored just 117 runs last season and will like to make up for it this season. KKR have roped in a strong outfit with good mix of young and experienced players. The two-time champions Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will play their season-opener on April 11 versus David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Andre Russell looked in good touch in Kolkata Knight Riders intra-squad practice match. One of his shots almost took out Dinesh Karthik who was the highest scorer in the game from both sides. The match was telecasted live on KKR’s official Facebook page which garnered a lot of viewers.

The match was held between a team led by Ben Cutting and another team led by Shubman Gill. Karthik scored 90 for team Gill as they made 175. Team Cutting chased 175 with 7 balls to spare. Tim Seifert was the Man of the Match and highest scorer for team Ben Cutting as the target was successfully chased down.
Like Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik too had a below-par IPL 2020. He scored 159 runs from 14 games as both the two key players failed to score big in the middle-order. Skipper Eoin Morgan took over the captaincy from Karthik midway through the tournament. He and Shubman Gill scored over 400 runs for the side but still, they failed to reach the playoffs.
KKR reached the playoffs last in 2018 under Karthik’s captaincy and since then has finished fifth in the last two seasons. Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2021 campaign with a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11.
Both Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik will look to have a better season than last year. The two along with Morgan and Gill form the batting core of the KKR outfit this year.
