Team India‘s left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh starred in the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on January 22, as the hosts secured a seven-wicket win. Arshdeep dismissed Phil Salt (0) in the first over with a short-of-length delivery and later had Ben Duckett (4) caught off a leading edge.

He finished with impressive figures of 2-17 from four overs, including 14 dot balls. With these two wickets, Arshdeep became India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, amassing 97 scalps in 61 matches at an average of 17.90 and an economy rate of 8.24. His strike rate stands at 13, with two four-wicket hauls and a best of 4-9.

Arshdeep is on the verge of creating history in the ongoing series, needing just three wickets to become the first Indian bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal follows with 96 wickets in 80 matches, while Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah have 91, 90, and 89 wickets, respectively.

Arshdeep Singh needs three more wickets in the ongoing series against England to become the 21st bowler in T20I history to take 100 or more wickets. New Zealand pacer Tim Southee tops the all-time list with 164 wickets in 126 matches, averaging 22.38 with an economy rate of 8, including two five-wicket hauls.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan ranks second with 161 wickets in just 96 matches, boasting an average of 13.80 and an economy rate of 6.08. The 26-year-old has recorded two five-wicket hauls and eight four-wicket hauls in T20Is. The top five is rounded out by Shakib Al Hasan (149), Ish Sodhi (138), and Mustafizur Rahman (132).

Wanindu Hasaranga (131), Mark Adair (127), Adil Rashid (127), Mitchell Santner (120), Henry Ssenyondo (118), Shem Ngoche (117), Adam Zampa (117), Ehsan Khan (114), Bilal Khan (110), Haris Rauf (110), Sandeep Lamichhane (108), Chris Jordan (108), Lasith Malinga (107), Shadab Khan (107), and Shaheen Shah Afridi (100) are among the bowlers with 100+ wickets in T20Is.
