Ashish Nehra Names The Pace Attack Of Indian Team For T20 World Cup 2022

Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra has named the four fast bowlers he will select for the Indian squad of ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Surprisingly, Harshal Patel, the IPL 2021 Purple Cap winner, was not included in his list. Deepak Chahar, who went for 14 crores in the IPL 2022 auction, was Nehra’s backup option when it comes to the fast bowling department.

“My choice for the World Cup would be Siraj, Bumrah, Shami and Prasidh Krishna. We have seen what he can do, and after these four, comes Deepak Chahar.”, said Nehra on Cricbuzz.

Prasidh Krishna, one of Nehra’s picks, is yet to play for India in the T20 format. The host for the upcoming T20 World Cup is Australia and hence it is essential to have a versatile group of fast bowlers in the squad.

Bumrah and Shami have been the pillars of India’s pace attack in all formats for the past few years, so they are a certainty to be selected for the world cup squad. It will be interesting to see who the selectors pick for the remaining 2-3 spots in the pace department. Players performing well in IPL 2022 might get an edge in the selections.

Ashish Nehra also lauded skipper Rohit Sharma for supporting experienced swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the past few months.

“It’s good to see that Rohit Sharma is backing Bhuvneshwar Kumar because he has so much experience.”, Nehra said.
