Australia Announce Playing XI For 2nd Test Against South Africa

Australia, led by Pat Cummins, have announced their playing XI for the second Test match against South Africa to be played at iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG starting from 26 December 2022.

Australia is currently leading the three-match Test series 1-0. David Warner playing his 100th Test match will open along with Usman Khawaja. Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, and Alex Carey comprise the middle order.

The pace bowling options comprise Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, while Scott Boland retains his place due to his consistent performances. Nathan Lyon will be the only spinner available. Josh Hazlewood will miss the second Test as he was given enough time to recover from the side strain.

Australia is in pole position to progress into the finals of ICC Test Championship finals to be played in 2023. Pat Cummins and Co won the first Test at Gabba, Brisbane by six wickets on bowling friendly pitch.

It was a superb bowling effort by the Australian bowlers to skittle out South Africa for a paltry total of 152. Travis Head’s quickfire knock helped the hosts take a decent lead before Pat Cummins and Co. bowled out South Africa for 99 in their second innings.

Australia would be looking to wrap things up in the second Test and put their foot in the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2021/23 cycle. It promises to be an exciting encounter as the hosts would look to seal the series, while South Africa would make a comeback after suffering a six-wicket loss in the first Test match at Gabba, Brisbane.
