BCCI has selected the previous South African fast bowler Morne Morkel as the new bowling coach for the Indian cricket team. The eminent appointment was made known by Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary, and Morkel will be assuming his service from September 1. He will join Gautam Gambhir’s coaching crew, who possesses an extensive amount of expertise at an international level.

Morkel, famous for his dynamic speed and tactical bowling, will collaborate with the Indian bowlers to improve their abilities and results. His skills are anticipated to be advantageous for the team, specifically in the area of fast bowling.

Morkel’s joining the Indian coaching staff is a notable enhancement, and his participation is expected to bring a beneficial influence on the team’s performance in future tournaments and series.

The previous fast bowler from South Africa, Morne Morkel, has been appointed as the new bowling coach for the senior men’s cricket team of India. The duration of his contract is set for September 1st. As stated by BCCI secretary Jay Shah to Cricbuzz, this former cricketer will start working with the Test team that is to visit Bangladesh soon.

Gautam Gambhir was among those who presented preferred lists of support staff members in the first place. The inclusion of Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate demonstrated BCCI’s readiness to meet Gambhir’s wishes. It was also reported that one other demand made by him was the hiring of Morne Morkel as a bowling coach.

Morkel played in Kolkata Knight Riders alongside Gambhir and participated in training sessions for Lucknow Super Giants when he mentored the team earlier. The famous fast bowler also has knowledge of handling a national team as a coach. In fact, he served Pakistan until November 2023 before going into private practice where he specializes in identifying promising young bowlers.

Meanwhile, India is all set to host Bangladesh in a two-match Test series starting on September 18.
