BCCI Issues Statement on Death Of Mohammed Siraj’s Father

The BCCI issued a statement on the unfortunate demise of Mohammed Siraj’s father on Friday night. The board had asked Siraj to fly back to India for the final rituals of his father. However, the pacer has decided to stay on and stay committed to his national duties. Siraj is currently in Australia and is training with the Indian team for the upcoming series against Australia. Siraj is a part of the Test series as well.

The Indian squad in Australia is still in quarantine and has been training in isolation on the outskirts of Sydney. Meanwhile, Talking to Sportstar, Siraj revealed his Ravi Shastri & Indian skipper Virat Kohli offered their support to the fast bowler after the untimely death of his father.

“It is shocking. I lost the biggest support of my life. It was his dream to see me play for the country and I am glad that way I could realise that and bring joy for him. The coach Shastri Sir and captain Virat Kohli were informed about the news. They just told me to be bold and are lending all the support,” Siraj said.

Mohammed Siraj is a part of India’s 5-man pace attack that will be taking part n the four-match Test series against Australia down under. He was included in the team on the back of his good performance in IPL 2020. The young pacer is expected to make his Test debut for India.

“The coach Shastri Sir and captain Virat Kohli were informed about the news. They just told me to be bold and are lending all the support,” Siraj further told Sportstar.

Meanwhile, Siraj burst on the scene after his impressive performances in 2016-2017 Ranji Trophy where he scalped 41 wickets. He was soon picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction for Rs. 2. 6 crores. Since then Siraj has worked extremely hard on his game and played for India in T20I and ODIs.
