MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Shabaash Mithu, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – biopics on sports players’ journeys are in trend these days. Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly is the latest addition to the list of sportspersons with a biopic on their life.

The BCCI president has confirmed while speaking to News18, that he has agreed to a biopic on his life. However, he chose not to disclose the name of the director. Sourav Ganguly said:

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything.”

Ranbir Kapoor to portray Sourav Ganguly?

The biopic script is currently in progress. As per reports, it is going to be a big-budget film ranging from Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore. Ganguly has already had several meetings with the production house. It is speculated that Ranbir Kapoor will portray the lead character in the film.

Sourav Ganguly is one of the greatest players to have ever captained India. The left-hander has scored over 11,000 runs in one-day internationals. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2004.

A few months back, Sourav appeared on the No Filter Neha chat show hosted by Neha Dhupia. When Neha suggested that Hrithik Roshan is the closest she could think of to portray Sourav Ganguly in his biopic, Sourav jokingly replied:

“But he’s got to get a body like me, first. Lot of people would say the way Hrithik’s body is, how good-looking he is, and how muscular he is, people would say ‘Aree, you’ll have to get a body like Hrithik.’ But, Hrithik will have to get a body like me before he starts.”

The exact details about the cast and the production house are not known. Many production houses have previously approached Sourav Ganguly but he always rejected the offers. But this time, Ganguly himself confirmed the news.
