‘Celebrating You Forever’: Suryakumar Yadav Revisits 2024 T20 World Cup Triumph

Former Suryakumar Yadav is reliving India’s memorable 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup triumph. On this day two years ago, Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, faced South Africa national cricket team in the final at Bridgetown, West Indies. Chasing 177, South Africa looked in control at 151/4 after 16 overs.

However, the momentum shifted when Hardik Pandya dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen for 52 on the very first ball of the 17th over. The decisive moment came in the final over when David Miller mistimed a big shot that seemed destined to clear long-off.

Out of nowhere, Suryakumar produced a stunning boundary catch to send Miller back, sealing India’s path to victory. The win ended India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. Marking the second anniversary of that historic triumph on June 29, Suryakumar Yadav turned nostalgic.

In a post on X, he reflected on the memorable day in Indian cricket history, sharing two photos—one of the team celebrating with the trophy and another capturing his sensational match-winning catch.

“There are moments in sport that stay with you forever. Every sacrifice, every setback, every practice session, every cheer from the stands — it all led to that unforgettable night. Proud to have shared it with an incredible group of people and to have experienced it with millions of Indians around the world. Thank you for making us feel your love before, during and long after that final. June 29, 2024. Celebrating you forever,” Suryakumar wrote.

Suryakumar’s Leadership Guides India to T20 Glory

A lot has changed for Suryakumar Yadav since then. Soon after India’s 2024 triumph, he was appointed captain of the T20I side and led the team with remarkable success. Earlier this year, under his leadership, India successfully retained their T20 World Cup title by defeating New Zealand national cricket team in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium.

However, things took a difficult turn earlier this month when Suryakumar was removed as T20I captain. To make matters worse, he was also left out of the squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England. A prolonged lean patch with the bat ultimately cost him both the captaincy and his place in the team.

With India suffering a 2-0 series defeat to Ireland on Sunday, many fans have started reflecting on Suryakumar’s immense contribution to Indian cricket. His recent post is certain to make people think even more about his impact.
