Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has stated that all but one of their overseas players will be available for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season, which resumes on Saturday, May 17, after a brief break.
Jamie Overton, the pace-bowling all-rounder, is the only overseas player who won’t return to the squad. He has been selected for England’s upcoming ODI and T20I series against the West Indies starting May 29, which means he will miss CSK’s final two league matches due to international commitments.
Providing an update on the availability of overseas players, Kasi Viswanathan shared the news with PTI:
‘”All CSK foreign players barring Jamie Overton are expected to join the squad ahead of IPL resumption.”

MS Dhoni-led CSK are out of the playoff race, with just three wins in 12 games. They face RR on May 20 in Delhi and will play their final match against GT on May 25 in Ahmedabad.
“He hasn’t told us anything”- CSK CEO on Dhoni’s IPL retirement plans
In an interview with RevSportz earlier this month, Kasi Viswanathan was asked about the chance of MS Dhoni announcing his IPL retirement after the 2025 season. The CSK CEO stated that the veteran wicketkeeper-batter has not yet shared any details about his future with the team management. Viswanathan stated:
“It’s his call, we will never tell him anything. If he takes a decision, he will inform us. He hasn’t told us anything.”
It is important to note that Dhoni gave up the captaincy of Chennai ahead of IPL 2024, handing over the leadership to Ruturaj Gaikwad. The team narrowly missed the playoffs, finishing fifth in the standings. Gaikwad continued to lead the team in 2025. However, Dhoni was reinstated as captain after Gaikwad was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury.
